Next week 3rd year MFA Playwrights present their thesis productions. The projects are in various locations in Manhattan from April 28 - May 8. For a complete listing and locations please click here.

Spring Productions

As the 2009-10 academic year winds to a close, there are several of productions performing at Columbia University over the next few weeks.

On Wednesday, 3rd year director Adriana Baer opens her thesis production, Romeo and Juliet. This production runs through Saturday, April 24. Additional information is available here.

On Friday 2nd year director Jonathan Vandenberg opens his spring project, an original work titled Distance. This production runs through Sunday April 25. Additional information is available here.

Next week the MFA Playwrights' thesis productions begin. They are performing in a variety of locations between April 28 - May 3. Additional information is available here.

And next weekend 3 more 2nd year directors projects open. They are Faust Part 1 directed by James Rutherford, deComposition an original work by Jess Smith, and Blood Wedding directed by Kon Yi. Additional information is available here.

The Country & The Happiness Opens Tonight

The MFA Playwrights' thesis productions begin next month. There are 9 new plays by 9 new playwrights: Clarence Coo, Steven Gaultney, Rebecca Haber, Aren Haun, Jeffrey James Keyes, Libby Leonard, Jason Gray Platt, Daniella Shoshan, Matt Wilson. We begin with “The Ides of March,” an exciting presentation of 10-minute plays, followed by a season of thesis productions.The complete calendar has been posted here.

Henry VI Part 3 Performance Dates & Venue Announced

Henry VI Part 3 will perform July 1-24 at the East 13th Street Theater. The venue is located at 136 East 13th Street in New York City. The production will be director by MFA director Adam Marple. It is the final director's thesis of the year.

Columbia Stages Site 2.0 Launch

Welcome to the launch of the new Columbia Stages website.

Several changes have been made. Some are cosmetic - there is a new design and there are loads of new photos. And some changes are informative. We have listed performance dates and general information for all shows planned in the 2009/10 main season. We have also added a new Schapiro Series page, which will include information on the many shows happening by MFA students in the Schapiro theater and studio.

The aim of this site is to provide a single resource where students and audiences can find all the info they need about what productions are happening in Columbia's MFA program. As you can see, there's a lot.

You can subscribe to this feed to receive new information about productions and special events as they become available.
